The vector tool is not as powerful as Photoshop or Illustrator. No matter how good Photoshop or Illustrator are, they are not as powerful as VectorWorks's tool. So, if you plan on creating sophisticated text and graphics, this tool is not for you. On the other hand, if you are a graphic designer and plan on using the tool as a vector editing tool only, this is an excellent choice. What file formats can I export my vector images into? The format that vector images can be exported into is XCF, the native file format of VectorWorks. XCF files can be opened using most graphics editors, and you can view and edit these files without any problem. What file formats can I import into VectorWorks? VectorWorks can import XCF files. Can I link files into a project? Yes. You can link files into your project. You can add file links by clicking on the cogwheel in the top left of the VectorWorks window, and selecting File -> Link… or pressing Shift + L. How do I add images into my project? You can add images to your project by simply dragging an image file into the workspace. You can also add an image by right-clicking on the image within the workspace, and selecting Copy As New File. How do I add objects to my project? You can add objects to your project by clicking on the cogwheel in the top left of the workspace, and selecting Object -> New… or pressing Shift + N. How do I create compound objects? You can create compound objects by clicking on the cogwheel in the top left of the workspace, and selecting Compound -> New… or pressing Shift + C. How do I apply a fill and stroke to an object? You can apply a fill and stroke to an object by clicking on the cogwheel in the top left of the workspace, and selecting Fill and Stroke… or pressing Shift + F and Shift + S.
